5TonsTMK food digesters come in a full range of sizes that process from 10KG to 5 tonnes per day of food waste and are continuous feed digesters that do not use any fresh water and have no gray water discharge to the sewers.
Food waste collected in compostable (PLA) bags can be thrown whole into the system, leaving clean totes ready for the next shift. The digester will also process compostable dinnerware and cutlery from PLA suppliers with the food waste. Most importantly, the (pathogen-free) biomass output is stable and will not rot or smell if rehydrated and can be land applied as an organic fertilizer.

The Process
- Organic waste is added to the Bio-Digesters system.
- Material is heated to a constantly monitored core temperature of 72.C (160F)
- Enzymes begin to break down the material as the paddles move the material across the digester.
- After 24 hours, the food waste digester’s process is complete and the nutrient-rich, safe end-product is augured out.
How does it work?
Food waste digesters need to be fed just like you and me, gradually and in stages. Steadily feed your food waste digester with your food waste. A morning, mid-day, and evening feed is optimal. Too much at once isn’t good for digestion.
The food waste digesters process provides optimum conditions for microbes to break down organic materials, including cellulose, into a nutrient-rich bio-fertilizer/biomass fuel.
